The J.J. Jazzmen Band was formed in 1993 by Jan Jirucha who gave the band its name. J.J. Jazzmen performed a special program called "Remembrance of Louis Armstrong" at festivals and jazz clubs all around Europe and also at the world known New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in the United States. Under the direction of drummer Miloš Kejř who took over the band after the passing of Jan Jirucha, the J.J. Jazzmen Band successfully continues to interpret the New Orleans musical herritage with youthful energy and in a contemporary way.
The original sound of the band supports Barbora Vagnerova as a singer with a rich and warm alto voice. The instrument of trombone including solo vocal has taken over Josef Pospíšil. Trumpeter Jakub Ševčík forms the band's frontline together with Barbora and Josef. Jan Greifoner on base and Jiří Růžička on piano seem to perform seamlessly as one man.
The expeceptional and contagious chemistry works on and off stage also with impeccable guest musicians who are often invited to colaborate and perform with J.J. Jazzmen. We celebrated our 30th anniversary with a new album under the label of the Czech National Broadcast called Do they play jazz in heaven? where our friend, top American trumpeter, Mike Fulton (The Jumbo Shrimp Jazz Band) recorded with us wonderful hits. Prague is our home but we perform regularly abroad mostly in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, and other countries. We have the experience also from the United States and from frequent visits to New Orleans.
